Friend Trains Are Officially Pissing me off!
Today, after my side navigation of 'Bulletins' finished getting slammed with friend train requests I came to a conclusion. Friend Trains are bad for myspace, bad for myspace users, and bad for all bands and promotion profiles on myspace.
So that may sound like a load of crap, but lets think about this for a second.
So you've built up your friends on myspace with a bunch of 'Friend Train' or 'Friend Whores' who dont care who thier friends are right? Right, ok.. so now you have all these random people who are obviously into posting tons of random myspace bulletins. Meaningless bulletins, with nothing more than links to add people for 'Friend Train' whore requests.
They post countless meaningless bulletin, after bulletin, after bulletin...
Now remember, Myspace only displays the 5 latest bulletins that have been posted.
So what happens when one of your 'Real Friends' posts a bulletin? Or, lets say your favorite band?
My guess is you're not going to see it, and I'm willing to make a friendly wager that you nearly never view 'All Bulletin Entries' to see what past Bulletins have been posted right? Right!
So now lets think about this from a Bands perspective. They post bulletins on Myspace to reach out to their thousands and thousands of fans on myspace. How much are these 'Whore Train' users crippling the positive effects of their bulletins success in reaching the fan friend?
Isnt this almost like Spam in your inbox? I think it just might be!
Although myspace does have a feature to block users from your profile within your 'Change Account Settings' section, and even from posting messages to you. But, they have yet to add a feature to block 'Spam Bulletins' which I think is needed. It would even be nice to block text strings from bulletins to filter them into a 'Spam Folder'.
