Myspace Claims They review "EVERY IMAGE"
I came across this quote regarding the images that MySpace Hosts, but I SERIOUSLY doubt they review "EVERY IMAGE". I mean, is that even possible? Let me take 10mins real quick and see what I can find... Maybe I should work for their review team? Well, lets have a look, shall we?
MySpace said its workers review "every image hosted by our site – more than 1.5 million every day – using our dedicated customer care team as well as algorithms and search engines to identify and purge inappropriate material."
Here we go, 10mins of DanGeR's time to see what
I can find real quick...........
and... GO!
GOT TWO:
Ok, so that wasnt so hard... (Keep in mind these are pictures from normal profiles.) But are those really "inappropriate"? I on one hand may say "NO, those arent that bad" with my Internet warped mind and all..... But, my Mother on the other hand... now I know she'd think those were "Pornographic Pictures" for sure!
So lets take a step back here, and DEFINE "Inappropriate Material"
Merriam-Webste's Dictionary says:
Main Entry: in·ap·pro·pri·ate
Pronunciation: "i-n&-'prO-prE-&t
Function: adjective
: not appropriate : UNSUITABLE
Hmm... Unsuitable for minors, little kids... I would say those images are.
So next I went to the first place where I knew I would be sure to find some good Unsuitable Pictures.. Myspace Groups... and to my amazement, myspace has added a new feature or step to cover their ass for sure:

I hadnt seen that before, and while it seems to be a good extra step, all you have to do is click 'Yes'. But then as I started clicking around, even the pictures had a new feature. The ability to notify myspace of an "Inappropriate" pic.

Now if you were my Mother, you might Report that Image... If you were me... ah, you might just drool a bit on the keyboard and move on to the next image. But, why isnt the ability to report pictures on the regular profile pictures section? Good Question DanGeR, I dont know....
So it seems they are taking some step to clean up the image, but are they really "Reviewing Every Picture Hosted"? I still find that doubtfull, but they certainly have the man power, allowing their users to report images. Hopefully their are more moms online than 14yr old boys..... yea, right! So, enjoy those pics while they last!
Is this Claim Busted?

Dear Jess,
Seriously... maybe your should re-read this post, ponder its existance, come to a realization as to why it was written, and then post your comments.
The point here, is that "Some People" may find those image objective. Do you not agree?
And, further more, Myspace claims their eliminating those types of images from their website. However, it was easy to find them.
Please take in a post prior to writing some garbage comment. Next time I will just delete it (your comment, incase you're unable to grasp that).

UPDATE:
The greatest risk facing MySpace is what boyd describes as "moral panic" -- a growing backlash from parents, teachers, religious leaders and law enforcement officials, along with some media outlets. They warn the site is an inappropriate and potentially dangerous place for teens to hang out. While many MySpace users are in their 20s, people as young as 14 are permitted to sign on.
In some ways, the backlash against MySpace echoes the uproar in the 1950s over comic books, or the 1960s over rock music, or the more recent crusades against rap lyrics and violent video games. What will those crazy kids do next?
Of the company's 280 employees, about a third work, at least in part, on online safety issues. They screen photos being submitted to the site and take down profiles of users who are found to be underage. About 220,000 profiles have been eliminated, according to a company spokesman. The company is also experimenting with software aimed at identifying pictures with a high proportion of bare skin, believe it or not.

MySpace.com on pruning spree
Popular blogging site MySpace.com has been taking down some 200,000 profiles over the last few months, due to "objectionable" content. This includes pages that have hate speech, or are just too risqué. News Corp internet division head Ross Levinsohn has said that the problem is really with the nature of the Internet and not with MySpace.com specifically. News Corp wants to smarten MySpace up to attract more advertisers and marketers, but needs to do so in a way that will not alienate existing users, of which there are now millions.

LOL..dude I can agree with you but until they create a section minors can't get into or somethin' myspace is screwed. And that whole advertising thing I personally will be off myspace in a hurry second if more ads show up than what's there already.

I agree that these pictures are indeed inappropriate. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT PUBLICALLY. If you want that then rent a porno, but many do not want to go on the internet and see that. Why do you think these 13 yr old girls do it themselves, they see exposed girls like that and think its cool> IF ANYONE NEEDS TO GROW UP IT WOULD BE THE ONES WHO THINK THIS IS APPROPRIATE.
