Myspace Voice Mail and Voice Comments?

Today Tglophone announced a beta release for a overlay service for myspace which will allow users to receive voice messages from other myspace users in the community "Inboxes".

Its a free service that you'll have to 'Opt-In' for, but the service works with Smart phones using windows mobile and symbian mobile operating systems.

According to Brian Fowler, theglobe.com's chief technology officer, "This service allows users to take their social web experiences with them wherever they go. Users of communities no longer have to be in front of their pc's to interact with each other." Mr. Fowler added, "The test users that have tried the service so far absolutely love it."

How it works:
All tglophone users receive free voicemail. Friends of theirs often leave "voicemail messages" for them which are delivered to email boxes designated by tglophone users. With the advent of tglophone mobile voicemail, tglophone users are notified when they have received a voice message via a MMS to their mobile phones. Users can then access their messages directly from their mobile phones by "following the links" in the MMS.

The service is in Beta, and there really isnt much information on their website: http://tglophone.com/

Signup is a painless process, with only a two pieces of information needed. You then just download and install the Glophone program.

While I didnt have a microphone to really test the calling, making the call was easy. You just go right to your profile 'Friend Space' and click the little phone icon next to their profile image.

The phone application runs like a little DHTML application in your browser window and places the call. You can view missed calls right from there too. I'll have to wait for someone to find me to get a message, but we'll see. I dont think its something that'll really catch on though.

For now, Im uninstalling this thing.

UPDATE:
You may have also heard about Voice Comments from SnapVine.... they’re distributing a “voice comments” widget for MySpace pages - you post the Flash embed on your page and your friends can dial a number to leave comments - there’s an example on the company’s MySpace profile (yet more Branding 2.0). You also have access to a management panel where you can delete unwanted messages. Of course, it’s not limited to MySpace - it also works on hi5, Bebo, Multiply, Friendster, Windows Live Spaces and any other site that supports Flash.
