Technorati now digging myspace blogs
![]()
Technorati is a real-time search engine that keeps track of what is going on in the blogosphere — the world of weblogs. And, now you can get your Myspace blog listed for search on Technorati. The first thing you'll want to do is claim your myspace Blog, which allows you to properly categorize your blog and receive a blog ranking.
1. Go to Technorati.com2. Click Sign Up at the top of the homepage.
3. Fill out the registration form. Your name and username are visible to the public, so keep than in mind when filling out the form.
4. Check the "I have a blog and would like to claim it now." checkbox.
5. Enter the URL of your MySpace blog. Not your profile page URL. Your blog's URL, like this: http://blog.myspace.com/edkohler
6. You'll now be given a series of options on how to claim your blog. Look for the Technorati Link option. This works best for MySpace. Click Skip This Option until Technorati presents Technorati Link option to you.
7. Copy the HTML code Technorati provides. It looks something like this:
<a href="http://technorati.com/claim/abc123asdf" rel="me">Technorati Profile</a>8. Go to your MySpace blog and Post a New Blog.
9. Select anything for the title and category of your post. You can delete the post once your blog is claimed.
10. Check the View Source box at the bottom of the Body text box, then past the code from step #7 into the text box.
11. Publish the post. You latest post should now have a message that says "Technorati Profile" and links to Technorati.
12. Go back to Technorati and click Complete Claim Now. That does it.
13. Delete the claim post from your MySpace blog.
14. Go back to Technorati, click Blogs at the top of the screen. This should show you your newly claimed blog. Click the Configure Blog button, then fill in your blog's description and keywords that help describe the content on your blog. Are there certain bands, tv shows, movies, etc., that you blog about all the time? Certain locations? Those are good keywords to use to help classify your blog. This will help people who will potentially find your blog interesting find your blog.
15. Configure Embed Display. I don't believe you can use this on MySpace blogs since it requires JavaScript. Uncheck the Show Technorati Embed on My Site checkbox. Save your changes.
16. Technorati Profile. Click the Profile link at the top of the page. This information will be used to enhance your blog's listing on Technorati. Just like on MySpace, a nice photo will help you get more traffic.
That's it. Technorati will now send additional traffic to your blog, and track how your blog ranks against all other blogs on the web.
So, what does this all mean.. I knew you'd be asking that. Well, for starters that means more traffic to your myspace page. I think you can figure the rest out from here.
Enjoy.
